Pusan fish market

Yay! Rose sent me her pictures from our winter Pusan, South Korea, trip that show the fish market. My camera was running low on batteries, so we used hers. As you can see, there are a wide variety of sea creatures. A few of which, I have never seen before, so I don’t know the name for. But of course we made up our own. Most of these were taken inside the fish market building where there was the constant fear of being splashed by the water or fish guts. And, there were a lot of fish guts! The giant squid had giant eyes that I think are bigger than ours, and they looked quite sad. Probably because they were waiting to be bought and eaten. I love how Rose labeled the pictures she sent, and one said “yummy foods.” She is quite a brave an adventurous eater. It was exciting to watch her try all the exotic dishes.
Amazingly, there was no fish smell inside the market place. I eventually had to leave though because all the blood was making me woozy.

  • Never been to a Korean fish market but I lived in Japan for eight years and shopped often in Japanese fish markets. You were certainly right about one thing, a fish market that sells fresh fish has no smell. I have been to a few markets in the USA that made me wish I had been wearing a gas mask. The availability of delicious "fresh" fish is what I miss most about Japan. Thanks for the great pictures.
